Learning is hands-on and practical, with plenty of time spent working in our gardens and outdoor learning spaces. You’ll take part in real projects that help you understand how plants grow, how gardens are maintained, and how to work safely with tools and equipment. You’ll also have opportunities to apply your skills in local community projects, giving you real-world experience you can be proud of.
You’ll build confidence, teamwork skills, and a strong work ethic - all skills that employers value.
By the end of the course, you’ll gain your National Certificate in Educational Achievement Level 2, preparing you for further training in our Certificate in Horticulture (Level 3) course.

To enrol you will need to be:
A NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident.
16 years of age and over before the start of the course.*
*15 year olds who hold Ministry-approved early exemption from their school may also be eligible. This exemption must be in place before the course starts.
This programme is currently only offered to domestic students.
