For Mahrukh Sheikh, enhancing her knowledge, communication and teamwork skills at NZMA has enabled her to secure a role as a customer care specialist at one of New Zealand’s largest telecommunications providers.
“I was a manager of a restaurant cafe in Newmarket, and I wanted to enhance my business knowledge to open up further work opportunities,” shared Mahrukh.
“I attended the NZMA Careers Expo which gave me an opportunity to speak to a lot of employers, and get an insight into what jobs might be available.”

Mahrukh now works in the dynamic telecommunications industry at 2degrees, the country’s third-largest mobile provider. She says the New Zealand work environment is “very refreshing and can’t be found everywhere.”
Mahrukh is determined to continue succeeding in a variety of roles as she climbs the career ladder.
