This course is a mix of campus-based study and *self-directed learning (on-site hours vary from 20 hours per week and 13.5 hours of self-directed learning in your own time per week).
This course is also part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-24, and meet the course entry requirements, you have a chance to attend this course for FREE!*

You will learn:
Safety: Health & safety, hazard management, first aid, and working at heights
Regulations: Industry laws, compliance, and professional conduct
Drawing & Tools: Reading plans and using plumbing tools safely
Water & Pipes: Measuring, cutting, joining, and testing pipework
Drainlaying: Excavation, trenching, and drainage system installation
Plumbing: Installing and understanding water supply and waste systems

MĀORI AND PASIFIKA TRADES TRAINING (MPTT)
If you’re Māori or Pasifika and aged 16-40, you might be able to get a scholarship to pay your course fees. This course is also part of the Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) programme. You’ll also get one-on-one career coaching, help finding work, and other learner support. You can apply for the MPTT scholarship once you’ve enrolled in your course. Ask NZMA to help apply.

Applicants must have completed a Level 2 NZQF qualification or equivalent or meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA Level 3 Placement Test
Domestic applicants with English as a second language must demonstrate sufficiency in the English language at an interview.
Ability to safely participate in practical activities, including work at heights and in confined or enclosed spaces.
