NZMA is a member of the Maori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT). MPTT helps young Māori and Pasifika to get certified and find employment in the trades industry.
As an MPTT scholarship recipient, you won’t be training alone. You’ll meet other Māori and Pasifika who are learning a trade, and get support from a mentor right through your training. You’ll also benefit from MPTT’s contacts throughout the trades industry, to help you find the right job for you.
Do you qualify?
You’ll be eligible for an MPTT Scholarship if you are:
Māori or Pasifika
aged 16-40 years
a New Zealand Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen
enrolled in an approved course

Complete an MPTT Scholarship application form and return it to NZMA
Attend an interview
You’ll be notified by email once you are approved for the scholarship
This programme sets you up to enter the construction industry as an apprentice or entry-level employee. You’ll gain loads of hands-on, practical experience, starting off with small workshop projects, building a prefabricated timber sleepout and even a two bedroom home.
Land a job as Electricity Supply Electrical Apprentice or an Industrial Electrical Apprentice or pathway into further study and become a qualified electrician. The course is pre-entry foundation knowledge of electrical engineering and is suitable for those who wish to enter the industry and who do not yet have electrical apprenticeship agreement.
