Study Cookery at NZMA

This intermediate-level programme really helps to build on your cookery skill set. You’ll learn about a wide range of cookery techniques and disciplines, and gain confidence working in a commercial kitchen environment. At NZMA you learn by doing, so you’ll spend 80% of your time in the kitchen putting your skills into practice.

  • Complex pastry and desserts
  • Complex meat dishes
  • Larder products

New Zealand Students

International Students

Tuition Fees: NZ$19,500
Course Fee: NZ$2,500

The New Zealand Government has imposed an international student levy on tuition and course related fees. From 1 January 2019 the levy will be 0.89% of the compulsory tuition fees.

Entry Requirements

  • Domestic students need to be 16 or older, international students need to be 18 or older.
  • You must have completed the Certificate in Cookery (Level 3).
  • Applicants without formal qualification must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA placement assessment. 
  • If English is your second language you’ll need an IELTS score of at least 5.5 with no band score lower than 5.0, or the equivalent*.
  • Interantional students must have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.

* Other English Tests / evidence may be approved as advised by NZQA
