Sport and Foundation Skills (Level 2)
Study Sport and Foundation at NZMA
If you’ve got a passion for fitness and nutrition, this is the foundation programme for you! This course aims to boost literacy and numeracy skills within the context of sport and recreation. Tutors will work with you to develop personalised learning and fitness plans. Plus you’ll participate in workshops, fitness training, mentoring sessions, and field trips. This exciting, hands-on programme will give you the confidence and foundational skills you need to pathway onto further study or meaningful employment.
Course content includes:
- Literacy skills
- Numeracy skills
- Introduction to sport and recreation - including health, fitness and nutrition
- Mental health and personal wellbeing
- Life skills – develop the qualities you need for athletic success, career success and life in general!
- Tikanga
- Teamwork, collaboration and problem solving
- Leadership
What qualifications will I come away with?
- New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2)
- Gain credits towards NCEA

This is part of the Government-led Youth Guarantee programme so it’s completely FREE if you meet the course entry requirements.
