NZMA Tutor and Pharmacy Technician wins prestigious New Zealand pharmacy award

Tuesday 14 August

The New Zealand Pharmacy Awards are held annually and are a highly anticipated event awarding those making an outstanding contribution across the community, hospital or industry sector. The top two entrants in each category are flown to Auckland to attend the gala awards dinner.

This year, Kathryn Rzoska was announced winner of The Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award.
Kathryn works at NZMA/Academy and at Life Pharmacy Riccarton. She was encouraged to enter this award by the pharmacists she works with in Riccarton.

Her peers noted that patients visit Life Pharmacy on the days Kathryn works to get her help and advice. She uses a 4D anatomy app to help patients understand their medical condition and to see how their medicine works. Pharmacy technician students and less experienced technicians have been heard to reflect “what would Kathryn do” in tricky work situations.

The judges agreed that Kathryn is a superstar in the pharmacy and recognised that this is just one of her roles. Kathryn also works as a pharmacy technician tutor at NZMA/Academy Christchurch Campus. She takes responsibility for providing the highest quality of teaching and support for NZMA students. She is an amazing tutor, team player and a leader.

Whether Kathryn is at the pharmacy or at NZMA her work ethic and knowledge is of the very highest level. She was part of the first cohort to complete the pharmacy technician level 6 qualification where she has been able to expand her role and work at the very top of her scope of practice.
