20 March 2018 -- Our latest Construction cohort headed to Tamaki Regeneration Company in eastern Auckland recently to learn about the work the company is doing in the area. Tamaki Regeneration are creating a modern multi-cultural community surrounded by world-class amenities, easy access to the CBD, Auckland’s beaches, parks and amenities, with the added bonus of efficient transport connections in place already.
NZMA Tutor Akama and Careers specialist Courtney took the group to meet representatives from BCITO, and from there to the Mike Greer site where they were taken on a tour of the new homes being built by the team of GJ Gardener.
It was a great opportunity for the students to see the various stages new house builds go through from concrete slabs, wooden framing, gib up, painting and plastering, kitchen installations and then a completed house as well. GJ Gardiner also spoke to our students about what employers are looking for in their employees in terms of honesty, reliability and commitment, plus encouraging the students to get out and chase the opportunities that are out there waiting for them.
Working with our trades partners is invaluable for our students, as strong industry relationships means we have a Careers team who can find the right jobs for our graduating students.
