The Pharmacy industry is dynamic, exciting and there are many employment opportunities out there for qualified Pharmacy Technicians. Our Pharmacy Technician Programme teaches you all the necessary skills and pharmaceutical knowledge to start your career.

It includes classroom and practical learning, as well as a work placement in one of the leading pharmacies in New Zealand.

What will I learn?

  • Pharmacy law dispensing processes: this course teaches legislation, codes and standards which govern pharmacy practice
  • Dispensing techniques: learn how to accurately prepare and dispense prescriptions, and the different forms of compliance packaging 
  • Pharmacy health: understand the routes of administration and the formulations of medicines
  • Anatomy and physiology: recognize how the different body systems work and their disorders
  • Professionalism and support: you will gain an understanding of the communication skills appropriate to pharmacy

What qualifications will I gain?

  • New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy Technician (Level 5)
  • New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy Technician (Level 4)
  • New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Introduction to Pharmacy Practice) (Level 3)

Domestic Students: 

NZD $10,317.00

International Students:

72+12 weeks: Tuition Fees: NZD $28,000.00 Course Fee: NZD $1,000.00

The New Zealand Government has imposed an international student levy on tuition and course related fees. From 1 January 2019 the levy will be 0.89% of the compulsory tuition fees.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must be aged 18 or older.
  • Year 13 academic achievement or complementary tertiary qualification, or demonstration of equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English require an IELTS academic score of 6.0.
  • Note: Domestic applicants will be given a pre-entry assessment and interview to assist with planning their studies.
  • If you’re a permanent resident but English is your second language, we may get you to sit an English Language Assessment.
  • International students must have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.
