Study Computing at NZMA

In today’s workplace, having the ability to use computers is essential. Are you looking to gain basic computing skills, but don’t know where to start? This is an ideal programme for you if you have limited knowledge of how to use a computer and want to increase your skills. This course is also a great foundation for those wanting to gain skills for entry level admin, reception and office roles.

You’ll learn how to use the Microsoft Office package for word processing and data entry, use email effectively, learn basic web design and so much more.

You will graduate well-placed to hit the ground running in a range of entry level administration and office roles. This course also acts as a stepping stone towards further studies to increase your computing skills.

What will I learn?

  • Learn how to use Microsoft Office programmes such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, by creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations
  • Understand how to write structured and professional emails
  • Get hands-on experience with web design and learn best practice techniques
  • Get basic computing troubleshooting skills
  • Learn proper online etiquette and ethics

What qualifications will I gain?

  • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)

This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

Student loans and allowances are available if you meet the criteria.

Entry Requirements

  • You need to be 16 or older and achieve the required level in our evaluation
  • If English is your second language, we may require you to sit an English Language Assessment
  • Must possess NCEA Level 1 or 2 or the New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 1 or 2
    Candidates without a formal qualification must meet the minimum requirements of the NZMA placement assessment
