Legal Studies at NZMA

The aim of this program is to build practical and professional knowledge and skills to launch your career in the legal sector. Gain a strong understanding of the New Zealand legal environment, and the expertise to help lawyers meet the needs of their clients.  This course is a stepping stone to exciting support roles in law firms, government departments and other organisations. This qualification is also a prerequisite to becoming a registered legal executive.

  • Principles and Practice of Commercial Law
  • Foundations of the Legal System
  • Principles and Practice of Property Law
  • Principles and Practice of Civil Procedure
  • Principles and Practice of Estates
  • Wills and Trusts

International Students

Tuition Fees: NZD$18,000

Course Fee: NZD$600

The New Zealand Government has imposed an international student levy on tuition and course related fees. From 1 January 2019 the levy will be 0.89% of the compulsory tuition fees.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years
  • NCEA Level 3 or equivalent skills or knowledge e.g. currently working in a law firm
  • Sudents for whom English is not their first language must have a minimum IELTS academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 or equivalent
