Study Hospitality at NZMA

This practical course is the perfect introduction to kick-start your hospitality career. You’ll master the fine art of coffee making, learn how to prepare hot and cold beverages, learn about restaurant service and food safety and pick up a host of other practical hospitality skills. You’ll come away with a Level 3 certificate and a Certificate in Basic Food Safety. Studying on this programme will also give your English and Maths skills a boost.

This 16-week programme is offered at NZMA’s Auckland Central, Sylvia Park, Otahuhu, Rotorua,Waikato and Christchurch Campuses.

Course Costs

New Zealand Students

This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

Student loans and allowances are available if you meet the criteria.

International Students

The New Zealand Government has imposed an international student levy on tuition and course related fees. From 1 January 2019 the levy will be 0.89% of the compulsory tuition fees.

Domestic Students

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years old
  • Applicants must be a NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent or meet the requirements of the NZMA  Entry Assessment

International Students

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification or equivalent or meet the requirements of the NZMA  Entry Assessment
  • If English is your second language, we may get you to sit an English Language Assessment.
  • If you are an international student, you also need to have an English level of 5.0 IELTS or equivalent* with no band score lower than 5.0.
  • You must have travel and medical insurance and a valid visa.

* Other English Tests / evidence may be approved as advised by NZQA
