Study Health at NZMA

Have you always dreamed of becoming a nurse? The Certificate in Health Studies (Level 3) is a programme designed to make meaningful steps into the health industry. You will gain a greater understanding of the health care system in New Zealand and develop the necessary skills and confidence to succeed in the field.

Learn in a fun and supportive environment, through organised field trips to healthcare institutions, guest speaker sessions, and group assignments. This programme is also a stepping stone towards preparing you for further studies. Upon completion, you will be prepared to apply for our higher-level Health programmes, or pathway to University degrees across New Zealand.

This course is also part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

What will I learn?

  • Health professionals – develop a good understanding of the healthcare system in New Zealand
  • Human body and development – learn the main concepts of human anatomy and physiology
  • Health and wellbeing – study the socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors that influence health

  • New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 3)

This course is part of the government led Youth Guarantee Programme. If you are aged 16-19, and meet the course entry requirements, you can attend this course for FREE.

Student loans and allowances are available if you meet the criteria.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must be aged 16 to 19 years old at the time of commencing study or 15 years old at the time of commencing their study and have an early leaving exemption from school
  • May possess NCEA Level 1 or 2 or the National Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 1 or 2)
