Start off as a line cook and work your way up to executive chef, become a caterer or eventually open your own restaurant. Whether you aspire to work in a top restaurant, a small café, a bakery or a hospitality cafeteria, qualified cooks and chefs are in hot demand. In fact they are on the New Zealand government’s skills shortage list!
Once you have some top-notch cookery qualifications, the world is definitely your oyster. Careers in the industry are not just contained to restaurants and cafeterias – you could work for international hotel chains, the airlines, cruise liners, luxury super yachts or the armed forces. You could even become a personal chef for the rich and famous!
NZMA’s Cookery courses are available to domestic and international students.
