Rachel Loughlin has the ideal set of skills to hook up NZMA students and graduates with the perfect employers. Having been a student, an employee and an employer herself, she knows just what each party needs to ensure a job opportunity is “the right fit”. Originally from the UK, Rachel spent three years working in the recruitment sector over there, before moving to New Zealand and joining the NZMA team in January 2013. During that time she worked on both temporary and permanent positions, finding jobs for job hunters in the commercial sector.
“I used to interview candidates on a daily basis in order to find out what they wanted to do career-wise, what skills they already had and also to find out more about them as a person to ensure the right personality fit.”
Rachel excelled in the role and was soon promoted to Assistant Manager. In her final year with the company, she was appointed Branch Manager.
“I have personal experience across the full spectrum of job hunting. I have been a student so I understand and am empathetic to the difficulties of juggling work and study. In the past I have used the services of employment agencies to help me find work, and when I was Branch Manager of a recruitment company I had to recruit my own staff.”
