Employment Advisor – Central North Island
Based at our NZMA Waikato Campus, Naomi has a wealth of knowledge and experience, most recently with online travel company Expedia. During her two years there she worked as Content Editor and Associate Market Manager, and was responsible for managing relationships with hotels all over New Zealand.
Originally from the UK, Naomi gained her first hospitality job at just 16 and worked in a wide variety of roles across the sector. She went on to gain a degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management before joining the Sales and Marketing Team for chic London establishment K West Hotel & Spa. A move to Waiheke Island, New Zealand in 2006 saw her continue her role online, working for the brand's sister company Lancaster London, as well as working as a Duty Manager at some of Waiheke Island's hottest venues.
Naomi is passionate about training, and helping others develop their potential. Here are a couple of her top tips:
* Treat others as you wish to be treated. It's a cliché, but it holds true in all aspects of life – at work, in interviews and just generally. Respect, politeness and compassion go a long way!
* Be prepared. This is also applicable to work, interviews and life in general! Do plenty of research, anticipate potential needs, and plan for the unexpected.
