Deputy Campus Principal - Construction
During his twenty-three-and-a-half years as a British Army Royal Engineer, Steven reached the pinnacle of a soldier’s career, with a rank of Warrant Officer Class 1. His military career took him all over the world, constructing a school in Kenya, managing 110 personnel in Afghanistan and planning and resourcing a road and water tower reconstruction in Belize. Steven has worked on construction sites in the Falkland Islands, Bosnia, Croatia, Kenya, Afghanistan, Denmark, Germany and the UK. His work has included everything from missile storage bunkers and ammunition compounds to the construction of temporary bridges, playgrounds and a 500-man camp.
For the past decade Steven has been a tutor and assessor for the British Army and has a string of BTEC and City & Guilds qualifications in teaching, management, leadership, site safety, blacksmithing and metal fabrication. He recently emigrated from the UK to New Zealand, and joined NZMA initially as a construction tutor, before taking on the role of Deputy Campus Principal.
