Study Early Childhood Education at NZMA

This programme is designed for people who are involved in the care and education of children in a variety of Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings including care centres and playgroups. 

Course content includes:

  • The development and learning of infants, toddlers, and young children
  • Te Whariki and its application in a range of ECE contexts
  • Strategies to keep children safe and promote holistic wellbeing
  • Learning experiences for children during practical experience in an Early Learning Centre.

What qualifications will I come away with?

  • New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood and Care (Level 4)

Entry Requirements

  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be 17 years or older
  • Demonstrate a desire to work in an ECE setting
  • Have the ability to study and complete assignments at Level 4 on the NZQA Framework
  • Students for whom English is not their first language must have an IELTS level of 6.0 (academic), with no sub-score less than 5.5 or show evidence of equivalent attainment
  • Be reliable, responsible and in good health
